Product Description
The bivy that hangs like a hammock.
Hang in a hammock or sleep on the ground in any weather — The Alpine Hammock™ does it all in a single hammock tent package, meaning your approach shelter and summit shelter are one and the same. It is a full featured bivy and a minimalist hammock shelter that you can still sit in like a traditional hammock. The Alpine Hammock has been redesigned from head to toe to reduce weight, improve airflow and make setup easier.
Patent pending “origami” closures manage airflow just above the face, venting condensation-causing breath at the source. The origami design is a redundant closure, channeling water down and out of the interior should water splash through the bug-netting. Using no rigid buckles or fixtures, the origami design is ultralight and simple.
The new tripod pole allows a freestanding setup on the ground with or without stakes and sheds water more effectively, reducing pooling and saturation. The elastic and adjustable rainfly guy line ensures a taught rainfly, reducing pooling and bypassing the need to hang a separate ridge line for the hammock. Ample thumb loops, meaty zipper pulls and improved vents make the Alpine Hammock user friendly.
Included are two 12 foot tree straps with DutchWare ultralight hammock suspension hardware. The Dutch Clip™ and Dutch Cinch allow quick and secure wraps on the tree and a continuously adjustable attachment to the hammock, so the perfect tension on the hammock can be had easily, every time. The design of the cinch and the stuff sack means that the straps can stay permanently installed on the hammock for an even faster setup. More at DutchWareGear.com.
Comes with a hammock specific stuff sack (variation on a “bishop bag”) that allows quick setup and secure storage.

I took this on a trip to the Bahamas. The no-see-um proof bug netting stopped all of the little nasties. The alpine hammock was great for sleeping up in the trees and bivvying on the beach. Huge advantage over other camping hammocks that I’ve used is that you enter from the top, meaning you don’t need to set it up at ground level. Sleeping UP in the trees was awesome.
And it wasn’t even meant for the tropics, this thing is all terrain.

First used the Alpine Hammock in bivy mode in an open area. 15 F with wild wind and swirling snow. I was a little concerned that snow would get in the vents, but problem whatsoever. If left somewhat open for some ventilation, my old bivy would has let snow blow in. Face it, at these temps, some condensation is unavoidable , unless you can hold your breath all night. this unit had much less condensation compared with my other bivys. Definitely recommend to a friend

Just returned from the Ka’u forest on the big island of Hawai’i. Lots of a’a lava under the canopy, so hammock mode was my only option. Encountered 50-60 mph gust and driving tropical rain. The hammock was light to pack in, quick and easy to set up, wind and waterproof, comfortable, and the various ventilation options worked well. Condensation wasn’t a problem at all. The insect screen proved very useful as well. The interior mesh pocket made finding a head lamp or phone easy in the dark. A quality piece of equipment that I expect to get a years of service from. The Alpine Hammock is a quality piece of equipment which I expect to serve its purpose well for years to come, from a quality company who provided quality service and communication. Mike and Ryan have earned my respect and support. Aloha

Five Stars! Ok, so I’m better in the woods than I am with the electronic gadgets. I would give the hammock 5 stars, but I haven’t been able to change it.

I recently received my redesigned Alpine Hammock and I’m loving it. Having previously owned both the First Edition and a prototype I’ve seen the progress with each revision and they have continued to march toward perfection. In simple terms, the Alpine Hammock is the best solo shelter you can buy. It gives you all the comfort and of a hammock, but in a smaller, lighter package than a comparable setup from Kammock or Eno (once you factor in the bug net and rain fly). And if that wasn’t enough, it can also be used as a bivy when the terrain demands it. No matter what you encounter, the Alpine Hammock has you covered.
Get out, explore, have an adventure, and rest easy in an Alpine Hammock.

Purchased a hammock earlier this year in order to use for a trip down the Wisconsin/Mississippi River, as well as some future hiking trips. The Alpine Hammock outperformed what I was looking for! It is extremely light and easy to set-up. While other people had to sleep in poison ivy on the hard sand, I got to sleep far above the ground nestled in my cosy, warm hammock! Very quality construction, only con would be seam sealing-it took me 2 tubes to cover everything (then again, I’m not the best at sealing so….) ! Would buy/recommend!

I’ve had the latest (4th) version for a while now and it’s outstanding! Super fast setup hanging or as a bivy. The new pole setup is the best yet. My tent never leaves the house anymore, I only use my Alpine Hammock. Absolutely recommend this to my friends who want lightweight weather (and bug) protection.

I own the 4th gen hammock and have used it on a few backpacking trips in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I haven’t used my tent since I got it, it’s easy to setup and the ventilation prevents any condensation issues.
